After a somewhat rocky start with confusion around our check-in time, Khushi Cottage turned out to be a serene haven amidst the hustle and bustle of Hampi. The cozy huts were clean and well-equipped with all the essentials - towels, loo roll, and soap. The hot water was a welcomed luxury, and the mosquito net provided peaceful nights, even for a Taiwan-born mosquito magnet like me. The fan was a reliable companion, ensuring comfort during the warm Indian nights.The location was ideal, within walking distance of the elephant temple and an array of charming restaurants and cafes. We even found a convenient boat crossing to Hippie Island nearby. The host, despite the initial mix-up, was friendly and arranged a taxi for us to Hubli Airport at a reasonable rate. The little terrace outside the hut was perfect for morning coffees and observing the slow pace of Hampi.Although the room was basic, it had a certain charm - especially knowing that the huts were named after the owner's daughter, Khushi. The family-run atmosphere added a special touch to our stay, making us feel like welcomed guests rather than mere travelers. The reliable WiFi was a blessing for my remote work, and the city view from our balcony was a delightful bonus.Khushi Cottage is a gem for budget travelers seeking comfort and authenticity. From the thoughtful amenities to the friendly host, this place captured the essence of Hampi beautifully. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in this mesmerizing corner of India.
